A Summer Poem
By Joyce Ellen Weinstein
Seeking the Buddha Nature in a Kayak
Gliding parallel the shoreline
Nanoseconds of now
And
Fleeting instances of the present
Come to pass
Along with skeletal shaped shoots
And clusters of seldom cut caryopsis
Advancing and retreating
Teasing the mind and eye
Making common cause
The competition
Between anticipation and now.
