From Singing Sensation Susan Boyle, 47, to Maria Amelia Lopez who was at 97 The World’s Oldest Blogger – Women Rule on the Web!

“Blogging took 20 years off my life,” said Maria Amelia Lopez, the world’s oldest blogger who died at age 97 on May 20th. She had a worldwide following and said the Internet had changed her life. “My ‘blogeuriños’ are the joy of my life. I never knew there was so much goodness in the world,” she said. She inspired many her own age to become bloggers, and she urged “the elderly everywhere to get wired.”

Her blog introduced her, her family, the history of Spain and her town of Muxia (Galicia) to millions throughout the world. She passed away after 880 days of blogging the past and present – the website as a gift on her 95th birthday by her grandson.

Her family has paid tribute to Maria Amelia, the woman who lived with intensity – “We love you Grandma!!! – on her blog in words, photos, video and a promise:

She had us with one song – “I Dreamed A Dream!” She made rocked he audience and sent us all to YouTube overnight and our email to share that first video. While she still maintains – “I’m like everyone else. The girl next door.” –  from her home in Blackburn, Scotland, people everywhere (including Simon Cowell) know that more than her hair color is changing for Susan Boyle (currently unemployed and nearly 48).
